We don't know if he was a soldier with a rifle in his hand saying, "ready, aim, fire!" or if he was in a crowded movie theater and yelled, "fire!" and everyone ran for the door. And if he was in the movie theater, he might not have even seen flames — he could have just smelled smoke. But, I think the difference between the right word and the wrong word is the difference between a piece of shit and the scatological.
